Baldur's Gate 3: 26 Best Ranged Weapons, Ranked
Looking to deal devastating damage at range in Baldur's Gate 3? These are some of the game's most powerful ranged weapons, ranked.
There are also some Versatile weapons such as Longswords which can be wielded with either one hand or two, but they deal more damage when both hands are used. BG3's best Two-Handed weapons deal extraordinary damage and have overpowered unique effects that can warp the way combat plays out.
Updated May 30, 2024, by Joe Grantham: There are dozens of Two-Handed weapons in Baldur's Gate 3, and in terms of raw damage, their power is only rivaled by the very best One-Handed weapons. With Larian Studios' epic remaining as popular as ever, it is important that players have all the relevant stats, effects, and locations of even more of the best BG3 Two-Handed weapons. While many of the top-tier items are found in Act 3 or the later stages of Act 2, there are nevertheless a few hidden gems earlier in the game.
12 Sethan
Base Damage: 3~14
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Greataxe | 1d12 + 2 Slashing | Very Rare |
|
- Location: Bought from Ferg Drogher in Rivington, Act 3.
Sethan is a Greataxe with good damage, but its standout feature is the ability to summon a spiritual twin of this Two-Handed weapon. Players are also able to make creatures smaller and provide them with a penalty to deal less damage.
Although Sethan is acquired in Act 3, it is available right at the start of this new chapter, meaning players can get plenty of use out of it. It can be bought from Ferg Drogher in Rivington, although players will need to pass a Perception Check, and if Shadowheart is present, she must have embraced Shar.
11 Hellbeard Halberd
Base Damage: 9~18
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Halberd | 1d10 + 2 Slashing + 6 Poison | Rare | N/A |
- Location: Sold from Helsik's special stock at the Devil's Fee, Act 3.
The Hellbeard Halberd is easily one of the most reliable Two-Handed weapons as, unlike in most other cases, its bonus damage is set at a fixed amount, rather than determined by the roll of a die. This means that every time an attack is successful, players can expect to see their foe take at least 6 Poison damage, on top of up to 12 Slashing damage.
To find the Hellbeard Halberd, players will need to enter the Devil's Fee shop in the Lower City during Act 3. However, as part of the trader's special stock, this Halberd is only sold by Helsik if the party is able to see at least one of her diabolical items. This requires passing Perception Checks.
10 Sword Of Chaos
Base Damage: 5~18
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Greatsword | 2d6 + 2 Slashing + 1d4 Necrotic | Very Rare | Chaos: On a hit, regain 1d6 hit points |
- Location: Looted from Sarevok Anchev, Murder Tribunal, Act 3.
Greatswords are among the best options for raw damage, and the Sword of Chaos is no different in this regard, especially with an extra 1d4 Necrotic damage. The ability to regain health on each successful hit can not be overlooked either, as melee characters using two hands for their weapon are more vulnerable without the protection of a shield.
To get their hands on the Sword of Chaos, players will need to find the Murder Tribunal during Act 3 of the game, and kill Sarevok Anchev
9 Voss' Silver Sword
Base Damage: 4~16
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Longsword | 1d10 + 2 Slashing + 1d4 Psychic | Very Rare |
|
- Location: Acquired from Kith'rak Voss in Act 3.
Voss' Silver Sword is the best Longsword in the game, and yet, incredibly, it can be acquired very early on. Not only does it do amazing damage when wielded with two hands, but it is also even more effective versus four different kinds of enemies and comes with a Smite spell.
As its name implies, this sword belongs to Kith'rak Voss, and players can confront him in Acts 1 or 2, where they will likely need to use trickery to disarm him. Alternatively, they can wait to purchase it from him in Act 3.
8 Orphic Hammer
Base Damage: 4~13
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Warhammer | 1d10 + 3 Bludgeoning | Legendary |
|
- Location: Acquired from Raphael or stolen from the House of Hope, Act 3.
While the Orphic Hammer and the other best Warhammers in BG3 can be used with one hand, they all deal more damage in two hands. This Legendary weapon has a Weapon Enchantment +3, meaning it not only deals more damage but also makes attacks more likely to hit in the first place, especially against opponents with high AC.
To get either or both of their hands on the Orphic Hammer, players will either have to sign a contract with Raphael or steal it from him in the House of Hope. Either way, players must have reached Act 3.
7 Corpsegrinder
Base Damage: 5~18
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Maul | 2d6 + 2 Bludgeoning + 1d4 Thunder | Rare | Grand Slam: Slam the weapon into the ground, thunderously impacting nearby foes and possibly pushing them away. |
- Location: Looted from Cairos, Rivington Docks, Act 3.
When it comes to the best Mauls in Baldur's Gate 3, there are two clear front-runners, both of which have equally excellent names. However, against most enemies, the Corpsegrinder is better than the Foebreaker, thanks to its additional 1d4 Thunder damage. Its Grand Slam action is also highly effective, and can even be used to push enemies off cliffs to their death.

Baldur's Gate 3: Weapons You Can Only Craft
The world of Baldur's Gate 3 is filled with unique weapons, but some of them can only be accessed by crafting them.
The Corpsegrinder can be looted from Cairos, an envoy of the Stone Lord, at the docks just west of Rivington at the start of Act 3.
6 Selune's Spear Of Night
Base Damage: 4~11
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Spear | 1d8 + 3 Piercing | Legendary |
|
- Location: Rewarded after sparing Nightsong's life and taking Moonrise Towers, Act 2.
If players only have Simple weapon proficiency, then the best Two-Handed weapon for them would be Selune's Spear of Night, the best Spear in Baldur's Gate 3. While the weapon does good damage when held in both hands, the spells and effects it provides are what truly lend it strength.
However, players will only be rewarded Selune's Spear of Night if they spare Nightsong's life. After successfully infiltrating Moonrise Towers, it will be given by Dame Aylin in camp.
5 Silver Sword Of The Astral Sword
Base Damage: 5~15 or 6~21 For Githyanki
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Greatsword | 2d6 + 3 Slashing +1d6 Psychic (conditional) | Legendary |
|
- Location: Kill Kith'rak Voss or show him the Orphic Hammer, Act 3.
For players who have chosen Githyanki as their race or for Lae'zel, one of the best Two-Handed weapons would have to be the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, a Greatsword that deals extra damage in the hands of Githyanki.
The resistances granted to Githyanki should also not be overlooked, although given that this is Kith'rak Voss' weapon, players will have to either kill him or show him the Orphic Hammer to acquire it.
4 Halberd Of Vigilance
Base Damage: 4~16
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Halberd | 1d10 + 2 Slashing + 1d4 Force | Very Rare |
|
- Location: Sold by Lann Tarv, Moonrise Towers, Act 2.
Halberds are Two-Handed weapons, and the best Halberd in BG3 has to be the Halberd of Vigilance which deals excellent damage and comes with a few passive effects that always help out.

Looking to deal some heavy damage the old-fashioned way in Baldur's Gate 3? These melee weapons will have your back.
The Halberd of Vigilance is also arguably the best Two-Handed weapon that can be found in Act 2 of the game, as Lann Tarv sells it at Moonrise Towers.
3 Nyrulna
Base Damage: 5~17
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Trident | 1d8 + 3 Piercing + 1d6 Thunder | Legendary |
|
- Location: Acquired through many steps at the circus in Rivington, Act 3.
Nyrulna is an incredibly strong Trident that is versatile, meaning it can be wielded in one hand or two. However, as the best versatile weapon, it is fairly hard to acquire.
To get their hands on Nyrulna, players need to first acquire the Djinni Ring from Akabi at the Circus in Rivington. This can then be used to win his jackpot, but even then, after he teleports the player, they still must manage to open a Painted Chest that has a Difficulty Class of 20.
2 Hellfire Greataxe
Base Damage: 4~20
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Greataxe | 1d12 + 2 Slashing + 1d6 Fire | Very Rare |
|
- Location: Found in a vault in Sorcerous Sundries, Act 3.
The Hellfire Greataxe is not only one of the best Two-Handed weapons but is also the best Axe in BG3. It deals incredible Slashing and Fire damage, and the powerful Hellflame Cleave can be used once per Short Rest.

Each class in Baldur's Gate 3 is unique in one way or another. However, some great classes are often overlooked in favor of other, more obvious ones.
In Act 3, players will be able to find the Hellfire Greataxe in the illusion section of the Sorcerous Vault in Sorcerous Sundries.
1 Balduran's Giantslayer
Base Damage: 5~15
Weapon Type | Damage | Rarity | Weapon Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Greatsword | 2d6 + 3 Slashing | Legendary |
|
- Location: Dropped after defeating the dragon Ansur in the Wyrmway, Act 3.
Balduran's Greatsword is the best Greatsword in the game and arguably also the best Two-Handed weapon in Baldur's Gate 3. With the Giant Form ability, players turn into an unstoppable force, dealing more damage on top of gaining HP.
To prove themselves worthy of wielding Balduran's Greatsword players must defeat the dragon Ansur in Act 3, and to reach him they must first solve the Wyrmway puzzles.
